A rare visit in Nidarø – Trondheim, two male Mandarin Ducks. 
Lovely colors, – it looks almost artificial!

One of my favourite species to photograph, brilliant looking males here. I often see the females with about 10 juveniles in tow and not a male to be seen!

Amazing that birds can be so colourful! Most birds, especially waterbirds , are very soberly coloured in the Netherlands.

Beautiful shot. We get a lot of ducks through my home town, but no Mandarins… We do have a lot of wood ducks who are similar in their awe-inspiring beauty. This shot of the Mandarin is splendid.
